Each year FDEA recognizes an outstanding developmental educator. The winner is selected from those you nominate based on involvement in FDEA, contributions to developmental education, promotion of student success, and profession creativity.
Ruth Becker was named 2003 Outstanding Educator at the 26th Annual FDEA Conference in October, 2003, at Daytona Beach, Florida. She has worked tirelessly for developmental education since 1988: mentoring adjuncts and colleagues by sharing creative and innovative teaching ideas. Ruth has served on the executive board of FDEA since 1995. Her goals for the organization were (1) student success, (2) continued liaison with the legislative body in Tallahassee in order to support FDEA's vital mission, and (3) a strong membership that is involved in supporting and promoting that mission.
Among Ruth's accomplishments, she initiated a publication of Student Success stories that was distributed to the legislative body and appeared in the FDEA newsletter.
In recognition of Ruth's devotion to promoting professional opportunities for adjuncts, the Ruth Becker Adjunct Stipend Fund was established.
FDEA is pleased to recognize Ruth E. Becker, our Outstanding Educator for 2003!
